Program Overview
Mahatma Gandhi Scholarship Scheme
A comprehensive scholarship program for meritorious Nepali +2 students, supported by the Embassy of India to foster educational excellence and cross-cultural academic collaboration. The Mahatma Gandhi Scholarship Scheme provides financial support to outstanding Nepali students pursuing their +2 education (Class XI & XII).
The notification for the Mahatma Gandhi Scholarship Scheme (MGSS) was published on 03 October 2025. The online application form can be submitted through the web portal www.goischolarship.com.np
from 06 October 2025 to 02 November 2025. The portal will close at 00:00 hrs on 03 November 2025, and applicants must submit their forms by 23:59 hrs on 02 November 2025.
Eligibility Requirements
Citizenship
Must be a Nepali citizen with valid citizenship certificate (student or parent i.e. Mother and Father)
Academic Standing
Regular Class XI student in recognized institution with minimum 60% or GPA >2.4 in SEE
Income
Family income below NPR 200,000/year. Better to keep 1,50,000 – 1,90,000
Required Documents
- Student Citizenship (Not Mandatory)
- Father Citizenship (if Nepali – Notary)
- Father Citizenship (if English)-Notary Not Required
- Mother Citizenship (English)
- Mother Citizenship (if Nepali – Notary)
Recent passport size colour photograph in white background
- SEE Grade Original Photocopy (Notary)
- SEE Grade Conversion Document
- Income Certificate (Notary)
- Class 11 Principal Recommendation Letter (Notary)
- Physically Disabled Certificate (mandatory only for physical disabled students)
Note 1: Notary means only the official stamp, no need to translate in English from the notary office
Note 2: All file should be JPG or JPEG and Size should be 500KB and Email and Password should be kept safe
Note 3: Students citizenship is not mandatory but better to have students citizenship if already crossed 16 age
Pro Tip: Ensure all documents are clear, legible scans. Poor document quality is a common cause of application rejection.

Renewal Process
Scholarship automatically renews for Class XII upon successful completion of Class XI. Students must maintain good academic standing.

Renewal Criteria
- Must pass Class XI.
- Submit all renewal documents on time.
- Non-submission = cancellation.
After Selection
- Set up bank account as instructed
- Receive direct scholarship deposits
- Submit renewal documents by Dec 31st 2026 ( Refer Sample Video)
